Family Event: Rainbow Scavenger Hunt - Make a 3D Color Wheel

A free virtual class for children ages 4-7 offered through Outschool. Space is limited and registration is required. For the children of eligible UMass Grad Employees and Postdocs.

Class Description:

In this class, the students will learn about the colors of the rainbow and go on a scavenger hunt to create a 3D rainbow color wheel.  First, the learners will observe and discuss the color wheel and color mixing.  They will learn how primary colors mix to create secondary colors, and how color is utilized in works of art.  Next, they will go on a home scavenger hunt to find objects representing each color of the rainbow.  They will then arrange their found objects in rainbow order, creating a 3D color wheel.  Finally, the learners will engage in a positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills.  Please provide appropriate supervision for your children.
