Join UAW/UMass and Adventure East to explore scenic Mount Warner with your family. "Old cart paths and woods roads reveal the farming and logging past of this sloping woodland that rises between the energetic college community of Amherst and the broad Connecticut River in the historic village of North Hadley. Admired and appreciated by locals and visitors alike, Mount Warner stands amid a 500-acre swath of protected land linking nearby Lake Warner to a range of conservation treasures."
Participants will choose one of the following options:
Nature Walk – All ability levels. Total Hike less than 1 mile.
Unplug for a few hours and take a rejuvenating stroll through the forest with us. This is a gentle and mindful outdoor experience that will allow you to connect deeply to the healing powers of nature. You will saunter along woodland trails, immersing yourself in the sights and sounds all around you, allowing you to become acquainted with life in the forest. Through bird and tree identification as well as wildlife tracking, you can begin to know our natural world more intimately. Improve your wellbeing with guided meditation, gentle movements and breathing exercises. This practice has been proven to reduce stress, strengthen the immune system and help restore a sense of balance.
Natural History Hike – A more active hike uphill. Total Hike 2 miles.
Go on an adventure with a knowledgeable guide who can help you identify all the wild wonders of our local forests. Time spent in nature has been proven to improve cognitive and mental health benefits, as well as improvements in mood and emotional well-being. Equipped with the proper gear, our guides will help you safely navigate in the natural world. Let's go on an adventure and reconnect with nature!
The two groups will meet up to share time together in a beautiful spot. Snacks and lunch will be provided. Family friendly. All hikers welcome!
